Current Profilers
Nortek makes several different models of current profilers. Each model is targeted for specific applications, ranging from the estuary to the open ocean.
The Aquadopp profiler is a small and lightweight profiler for use in the coastal ocean from depths of 1 to 100 m. This profiler can optionally be delivered with special, High Resolution (HR) firmware. In HR mode, the instrument is capable of measuring at high frequency (>1 Hz) and with high spatial resolution over short profiling ranges.
The Continental is the "big brother" of the series. It is intended for use at water depth down to 500 m and it can profiler over ranges of 100-300 m.
Both the Continental and the Aquadopp profiler come in a variety of mechanical configurations.
