New Nortek 400 kHz AWAC with Ice Measurements! We are pleased to announce the release of our new 400 kHz Nortek AWAC, which extends the wave and current profiling capability of this best-selling instrument to 100m. And for good measure, we added ice thickness capability. The 400 kHz retains the same geometric configuration as the earlier 1 MHz and 600 kHz versions, but gets a different "look" because of the larger transducers. The ice measurements are implemented as a new detection algorithm that is more appropriate to the raw data recorded when the surface is covered with ice. Please see this report for more details on ice measurements. |

Nortek Technical Symposium 2011The Nortek team is anxiously anticipating the start of this year’s Nortek Technical Symposium, just a few short weeks away, coming 16-18 March in Newport, RI. As the final registration deadline passed, we saw an increased number of registrations. These attendees can look forward to the exciting presentations scheduled involving both our traditional themes in oceanography and marine sciences as well as this year’s Renewable Ocean Energy theme. Of course, as always with the Nortek team, the symposium will also include several engaging networking opportunities and an exciting tour. If you are not able to attend this year, we will miss you, but hope you will join us next time! |
