Continental Long Range ProfilerThe Continental long range profiler has been around for many years, but what do you know about it? ...and what SHOULD you know about it? Learn more about the extended profiling range of the 190 kHz and 470 kHz profilers and how these are excellent values and a logical replacement to your older ADCPs. Find out how the Seasonal Sampling mode can help your long-term deployments and how the Continental is also a good choice for side-looking applications. Inquire today about how the Continental Profiler can be your best solution for your next project requiring profiling in the 100-250 m range. |

Vessel Mounted SolutionsNortek’s Vessel Mounted Current Profiler systems have been in operation since Nortek’s inception over 10 years ago. The Nortek VMCP is the ideal and affordable solution for measuring currents from a variety of platforms including seismic vessels, workboats, research vessels, dredge barges, etc. An increasingly large user base of Nortek vessel mounted systems is growing worldwide. For instance, in order to maintain efficiency during survey operations but more importantly maintain the integrity of towed seismic streamers, several seismic companies utilize Nortek's vessel mounted acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP, ADP, ACP) to continuously monitor the magnitude and direction of oceanic currents. Many possibilities and solutions exist for your application. Contact NortekUSA to learn what solution is best for your needs! |

Extended Velocity Range for Aquadopp HR ProfilerDo you want to use your Nortek Aquadopp High Resolution (HR) Profiler in regions with more energetic flows, such as tidal estuaries and the outer surf zone? Do you want to get more profiling range out of your HR Profiler without ambiguity wraps? If so, the Extended Velocity Range mode is your answer! The Nortek Technical Note (TN-028) describes the Extended Velocity Range mode of the Aquadopp HR Profiler in detail and gives example data from a short deployment in the outer surf zone from a demo at the 2009 NortekUSA Users Symposium in St. Augustine, Florida. |

Student Equipment Grant ProposalsThis year marks our 6th year of funding the NortekUSA Student Equipment Grants. The deadline for proposal passed on 1 February and we are pleased to announce that we have had a very large response of excellent proposals from talented graduate students across North America. Now the review committee has a serious task ahead of them selecting the best of the best for funding. We will post initial funding announcements on the Nortek Global Oceanographic Community Facebook page. We encourage you to join the group to learn more about the Student Equipment Grants and to learn from, and contribute to, this global community of users. |

NortekUSA Supports Florida Coastal Engineering CommunityNortekUSA is proud to be a sponsor of three major events within the Florida coastal engineering community next month. Stop by our booth at the FSBPA National Conference on Beach Preservation Technology (3-5 Feb) to hear about some of our new capabilities in the nearshore environment. We are very excited to hear the presentations of several of our Nortek users at this conference. In Jacksonville, FL, NortekUSA will be co-sponsoring a regional real-time observations workshop on the banks of the St. Johns River (16 Feb) at the site of the new Jacksonville University Marine Science Research Institute, to discuss data collection in this dynamic watershed. NortekUSA will also be sponsoring the International Rip Current Symposium hosted by Florida International University in Miami (17-19 Feb). The theme of this conference is a very important issue in Florida and on beaches worldwide and we want to do our part to support the researchers making advances in this area. |

AGU/ASLO Ocean Science ConferenceNortekUSA will be attending the 2010 Ocean Sciences Meeting to be held in Portland, Oregon 22-26 February. Stop by our exhibit booth to see our new Aquadopp Z-Cell Profiler and Aquadopp IM. You will be able to see first hand the new Z-Cell Aquadopp Profiler - an innovative solution to provide zero blanking distance in a traditional profiler. We will also have on display the IM-Aquadopp - a fully integrated inductive modem, mooring clamp, and stabilizing fin solution for your Aquadopp Current Meters. Ask us about our special conference-only rate for the upcoming 5th Annual NortekUSA Users Symposium. |

New Product Release -- Aquadopp "Z-Cell" Profiler! The Aquadopp Z-Cell Profiler is a novel 6-beam, two-frequency, acoustic Doppler current profiler that effectively eliminates the blanking distance -- allowing you to make measurements in Cell ZERO! The Z-Cell is an ideal instrument to use on buoy-mounted applications when near-surface observations are very important. The Z-Cell is also a good choice for bottom-mounted applications when you need to make velocity measurements within the bottom 1 m. The Z-Cell Profilers are now deployed on NOAA real-time buoys in the Gulf of Mexico and Chesapeake Bay. The report "Testing and Evaluation of the Z-Cell" was presented at the 2009 OCEANS conference. We will update our product page shortly with more information about the Z-Cell Profiler. Please check back soon and contact your local NortekUSA Regional Manager! |
