Guidelines for Returning Instruments for Repair


RMA Number

Before sending your repair, call or email NortekUSA to get an RMA (Return Materials Authorization) number assigned to your repair. We will use this number to keep track of your system. All equipment should be shipped to NortekUSA and we will decide which repairs may be done in-house and which need to be sent to Nortek-AS. Shipping within the US requires no special procedures. Shipping from outside the US into the US, or from outside Norway into Norway requires the procedure described below.

When You Send Your Instrument to Us

Fax a copy of the airway bill to NortekUSA. This will alert us to the fact that the equipment has been sent, it will allow us to track the shipment, and it will enable us to contact the shipper should the package be late or lost.

Shipping and Insurance Costs

Always ship instruments to us with the shipping costs prepaid. We will pay the cost of the return shipment when an instrument is under warranty. After the warranty expires, you are responsible for shipping both ways. We can ship the instrument to you freight collect or we can prepay the return shipment and bill the costs to you with the repair costs.

Our insurance does not cover goods that do not belong to us. If you want your instrument to be insured while in transit both to and from repair, then you must arrange for insurance. We will follow your instructions if you want insurance to be provided by the shipping company. If we prepay the insurance, we will bill you for it. The easiest method for return shipment is to ship freight collect.
