System Integration
All information here on application development. Tricks and tips, tools, utilities, demo applications and general information that those in our community who are developing their own applications may find useful.
We at Nortek develop all our own applications. Because of this our program designers and developers have a huge amount of knowledge and experience when it comes to programming for our instruments. Many of these guys are active on our Forum answering your questions and giving advice.
We accept however that some of our customers and users either prefer to create their own applications or have different requirements than our own software provides. In response to this Nortek has always helped application developers by providing the necessary information. In addition we have developed ActiveX and Windows DLL's to assist developers. Some of the information we provide is free and some we have to make a charge for. The following is a list of what is available from Nortek, including a simple example of how you can use our PdCommX ActiveX control within Microsoft Excel to communicate with our instruments and read data directly into an Excell spreadsheet. Clearly this control will work with Visual Basic, C/C++ etc.. But with the abilities Excel has to crunch numbers this demo application turned can be a useful exercise.
System Integrator Manual - This provides detailed information on how you communicate with a Nortek instrument using terminal software, the serial port and a set of commands.
PDCommX ActiveX Control- Windows ActiveX control that makes the developing of Windows applications a breeze. Use your language of choice. An example of the use of the ActiveX control can be found below
