Z-cell article in SeaTechnology
We are pleased to announce that SeaTechnology has published an article describing the prototype Z-cell test that was carried out in 2009 as a collaborative effort between NDBC and Nortek. A reprint of the article is now available in the Knowledge Center
The article describes a 1 MHz Z-cell mounted on a 3-m discus buoy and shows how the ability to measure the current close to the surface can have significant impact on search and rescue operations. This is especially true in coastal waters, where the surface layer often has a lower salinity than the rest of the water column. The full article can be downloaded here.
