YouTube video of oceanographic buoy deployment in Venice

— filed under:

Have your ever tried to deploy an oceanographic buoy in 6ft. seas? Check out this video of an operation that took place in the Nortehern Adriatic sea just before Christmas

NortekMed (France) deployed an oceanographic buoy in September 2008 near Venice. The buoy is instrumented with a Nortek 600 kHz Aquadopp Profiler profiling the currents down to 50 meters and a Vaisala weather station. All data are transmitted every 30 minutes to an office onshore and the data are then sent automatically to a Website that is accessible from anywhere. The energy for the sensors, the radio and the flash is provided thanks to solar panels.
