about fouling

Posted by emna lozano at August 26. 2010

Hi,

I’m studying marine engineering. It’s the first time I’m working on ADCP data. I have the retrieved data but it doesn’t look right due to the blockage of the beams with  limpets (species of marine gastropod molluscs ).Could you please tell me how to correct data in order to have the appropriate data of the current speed  and to explain what are the effects of this fouling on the signal.

Thank you!

Hi Emma,

I know that this request has been/are being  answered via e-mail because of more thorough data validation.

For the other users of the forum you should know that the fouling will not affect the current velocities. It might reduce the range of the instrument though.

Best regards

Jonas Røstad
