WriteConfig Fails on Vectrino

Posted by Adam Price at October 21. 2009

I am trying to use a Vectrino unit labeled "Vectrino 4d Cable"  Probe N-7251, Hardware 0049.

The software on my computer is Vectrino+ 1.14

The firmware on the device is Vectrino 1.29 (I just upgraded to try to resolve this issue.)

When I try to establish communication, I get a message saying

<code> Connected!

Error: Flash Corrupt

Vectrino Nortek AS 2008, Version 1.29, Command Mode<code>  I am allowed to continue, but then when I try to collect data or run a probe check, I am told:

Command Failed! (WriteConfig)  Acknowledge not received.[0]  The configuration may be invalid, Please check your configuration parameters."  A subsequent dialog tells me "Unable to write configuration parameters."

I suspect the first error message is telling me what I really need to know - that the flash memory is corrupt.  Is this a user serviceable issue?  If so, how do I go about reformatting (or whatever needs to be done.)

Thanks,

Adam

Dear Adam,

It seems like there is a problem with the communication between the main board and the probe. There are a few possibilities:

1. Fingercontact on the probe is not properly fitted onto the circuit board.

2. The probe is connected the wrong way.

3. Circuit board error

4. Probe board error

To investigate please disconnect the probe and the endbell from the housing by removing the three screwes at both ends. Pull out the main board from the end bell side. Now connect the probe to the circuit board. (Nothing will be damaged if connected the wrong way.)

Try the connect button and see if the error message dissapears. Try to connect the probe both ways to check if the probe is connected the wrong way. This can be the issue if the enbell has been changed and the circuit board has been installed the wrong way.

If you manage to establish communication please assemble it together and be carefull to fit the fingercontact onto the circuit board properly.

Hope any of this will help you!

Best regards

Marius Mathisen
