Salinity
Hello everybody. I am a new user of the Nortek AquaDopp HR. I will use the Nortek AquaDopp HR 2MHz to measure the 2D velocity profile of a buoyant flow of fresh water above the denser salt water (gravity current). My HR Profiler will be deployed horizontally at the bottom of the salt water. It will look up to the free surface.
Could anybody give me advice about the following matter? I wonder in the above case whether or not it is correct if I enter the salinity of the salt water into the salinity parameter in the HR sofware without considering the 0 salinity of the fresh water flow on top of the salt water?
Thank you in advance.
If you look at the horizontal velocity measurements in view of the ray bending that you will have as the pulses move up through the water column, I believe the correct approach is to use the salinity and temperatur at the sensor head.
Best regards, Atle Lohrmann
