Bursting mode/ VECTOR

Posted by mary at July 23. 2011

I will use a Vector (cabled/downlooking/ mounting on the floor of a lake).

It is recommended in the manual to put in on the burst mode when we want to deploy and not do a real time.  when I choose burst mode in the planning I cannot see the estimated battery utilization, although I can see that when choosing continuous. What would be the reason for that?

Thanks,

Maryam

Hi Maryam,

is it reporting zero battery usage or just left blank? If it's reporting zero, then your deployment duration is probably not long enough to utilize any of the battery. The software will report battery usage for burst mode deployments however.

Thanks for the reply. It shows zero
I have another  problem in using my 2 OBS sensors. I have connected them to the Vector and defined them in the planning as input analogs which are powered from the Vector.
When I  convert the resulting file I do not get meaningful data from input analog 1 and 2 in the .dat file.
Also, when I push convert the data, I get this error : pitch out of range, roll out of range. Although I figured out that our vector should be vertical.
Would you help me on that too?
Thanks,
Maryam

Please search the forums for analog input setup help. It has been covered several times. As a start, I would recommend testing with a known DC voltage on one of the channels and seeing if this is recorded correctly.

The out of range errors are probably due to the sensors being tilted too far. Try reorienting the case and checking the operation again. The pitch and roll should also be displayed real time in the software when the instrument is cabled. You can check operation then by moving the pressure case around.
